While we will try, our words & pictures could never describe Torres del Paine’s sheer awesomeness, in the purest sense of the word. Driving up to the park for the first time, we got a glimpse of what everybody told us was some of the most amazing sights we would ever see.  The mountains can only be described as “beautiful anger”, somewhat akin to the Grand Tetons but on a larger scale. It’s a place where you feel the world could end yet these giants would survive.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit it now but we almost didn't go to Patagonia at all. I know how crazy that sounds so I'll just let that sink in for a moment - were crazy. However at the time it seemed too far to travel & to much of an expense for us. We figured Patagonia was a destination we'd be sure to get back to. Well most likely we would have been wrong because it is far & it's not cheap, at best it would have been years before we'd attempt to go again & with all our new friends admonishing us (You HAVE to go to Patagonia!!) we don't regret it for a minute easily the best thing we've done thus far, maybe ever.

A little adventure town surrounded by five volcanos, four active, & while not resorty there’s no shortage outdoor activities here to make a case for its own REI destination. Hiking, rafting, horseback riding, biking…lots of “ing”s abound in this ski town vibeish locale.

If Santiago is a city we could live in, Valparaiso is where my soul would stay. The description we lay out can hardly do it justice, it’s a place better seen than described. Valparaiso (Valpo) is actually 45 hills that stretch upwards from the ocean, each with its own unique name, with a steepness that San Francisco couldn’t begin to compete. The hills did create some of the most incredible views we have ever seen though, lights & shadows shifting throughout the day as the sun rose & set
